In the mountains... rain and snow may return to the Lassen park area and Shasta County mountains Wednesday afternoon... and shift into the west slopes of the Sierra Wednesday night. Occasionally heavy showers are possible near the cold front as it moves south across the region Wednesday night into early Thursday morning. Snow levels could drop below 6000 feet Wednesday night. This storm has the potential to have an impact on travel in the mountains.
There is some uncertainty about how much snow will fall in the mountains because some of the energy from this storm may remain offshore. There is a possibility of snowfall down to 5500 feet Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
