... Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 4 PM Saturday to 4 am
PST Monday...

The National Weather Service in Hanford has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory for snow for the Kern County mountains... which
is in effect from 4 PM Saturday to 4 am PST Monday.

* Hazard types... accumulating snow at elevations above 4000 feet.

* Snow accumulations... 1 to 2 inches.

* Timing... showers will develop over the Kern County mountains
tonight and Saturday and continue through Monday morning. Snow
levels will lower to near 5000 feet Saturday morning... then
lower to near 4000 feet by late Saturday afternoon.

* Impacts... people traveling over Interstate 5 or Highway 58
should be prepared for slick roads and possible travel delays
Saturday night through Sunday night.


Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow
will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered
roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while driving.

The National Weather Service in Hanford has issued a Wind
Advisory... which is in effect until 4 PM PST Saturday.

* Winds... west 20 to 30 mph with higher gusts to 55 mph.

* Impacts... cross winds along Highway 14 and below the passes in
Mojave along Highway 58. Strong winds through below Walker Pass
along Highway 178. Possible Crosswinds along Highway 395 near
Inyokern.
