... Cold and active winter weather pattern to continue through next
weekend...

A very cold air mass will remain over eastern California and
western Nevada for much of the upcoming week. Daytime temperatures
will remain below freezing even in the lower elevations through
Wednesday. Tuesday night... temperatures will drop at least into the
single digits across the region... with below zero temperatures
likely in many areas.

A weak system will move through the region Thursday and Thursday
night... however the main storm of concern will arrive Friday night
or Saturday. At this time... some uncertainty remains for snow levels
which would affect conditions in the lower elevations... but
significant snowfall will be possible in the Sierra.

Local officials... emergency managers and anyone with travel plans
this upcoming week should continue to monitor the forecasts and
further statements.
