A high wind watch for the Kern County mountains and deserts
remains in effect from Tuesday afternoon through Tuesday evening.

* Timing: a cold front will move into and across the Kern County
mountains and deserts Tuesday... bringing the threat of strong
and potentially damaging winds.

* Winds: west to northwest winds will increase to 30 to 50 mph
through and below wind favored passes and canyons. Wind gusts
from 60 to 70 mph are possible... especially below passes.

* Impacts: strong and potentially damaging winds will make
travel hazardous for high profile vehicles. In addition...
weakly constructed or temporary outdoor shelters may suffer
damage. Light objects such as Christmas decorations may become
airborne.|

A high wind watch means there is the potential for a hazardous
high wind event. Damaging wind gusts of at least 58 mph or
greater may occur. Continue to monitor the latest forecasts.

... Light snow is expected across the Kern County mountains late
tonight into Tuesday morning...

Snow showers are expected late tonight and early Tuesday as a cold
front passes through the area. Snow levels will be close to pass
level at around 5000 feet and some light snow is possible even
along the Tejon and Tehachapi passes. No accumulating snow is
expected... however roads may become slick. Please allow extra time
while traveling through the passes and be prepared for possible
delays.
