	Special Weather Statement
Statement as of 2:28 AM PST on December 08, 2009 ... Very cold low temperatures continue across the region... Another night of frigid temperatures returns to the region. Low temperatures will range from the mid 20s at the coast to below zero in areas east of the Cascades by early Wednesday morning. The cold air mass will remain firmly in place tonight with similar low temperatures early Wednesday morning. Slightly warmer overnight lows are expected Wednesday night. This string of cold temperatures has not been felt since late December of 1998. The long duration of cold temperatures will cause unprotected water pipes to burst. Drain all exterior water hoses... faucets and irrigation systems. Trailer homes and older homes are particularly vulnerable to pipes freezing. If you live in a trailer home or older home you may want to keep your faucets dripping overnight to help prevent pipes from freezing and possibly bursting. Pets are also susceptible to the extreme cold. Keep pets indoors as much as possible. If this is not possible... make sure outdoor pets have warm dry shelter... and provide sufficient food and fresh unfrozen water.
