The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a lake Wind Advisory... which is in effect from 2 PM to 8 PM PDT Tuesday.
* Winds: southwest to west 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph on Tuesday.
* Wave heights: 2 to 4 feet on Pyramid Lake... with the highest waves along the East Shore.
* Choppy conditions will occur Tuesday on area lakes in western Nevada and eastern California... including Pyramid Lake... Walker Lake... Mono and Crowley lakes. Small boats will be prone to capsizing and should remain off lake waters until conditions improve.

A red flag warning remains in effect from 11 am to 11 PM PDT Tuesday. A Fire Weather Watch remains in effect from Wednesday afternoon through Wednesday evening.
Strong gusty winds are expected to occur Tuesday afternoon and evening across the Sierra front and south to Mono and Mineral counties. Southwest to west winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 40 mph are forecast to combine with afternoon humidity of 5 to 10 percent. With fuels rapidly drying across western Nevada and eastern California... the increasing winds will become conducive to rapid fire growth.
Gusty southwest winds are forecast again Wednesday afternoon and evening with winds of 15 to 20 mph and gusts to 35 mph as relative humidity drops below 15 percent.
