... Freeze warning for the central and southern San Joaquin Valley remains in effect from 10 PM Wednesday to 8 am PST Thursday... ... Freeze warning for the central and southern San Joaquin Valley is cancelled for tonight...
The National Weather Service in Hanford has cancelled the freeze warning for the central and southern San Joaquin Valley for tonight. A freeze warning for the central and southern San Joaquin Valley remains in effect from 10 PM Wednesday to 8 am PST Thursday.
* Temperatures tonight: temperatures are running 5 to 10 degrees above what we expected at this time. Winds are staying up across the valley this evening as another upper level disturbance moves through the region overnight. Some isolated areas may dip down to around the freezing mark for a few hours towards daybreak.
* Temperatures Wednesday night: will be from 24 and 28 degrees outside of urban areas. Durations of 28 degrees or lower will be from 4 to 9 hours with total duration below freezing of up to 13 hours. Temperatures of 29 to 32 degrees are likely in the Fresno and Bakersfield Metro areas as well.
* Impacts for Wednesday night: this cold will threaten freeze sensitive plants and animals. There may also be a few areas of freezing fog develop during the early morning hours. This could cause a buildup of frost or patchy black ice on bridges and overpasses.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A freeze warning means temperatures of 28 degrees or lower are immanent or highly likely. These conditions will kill or damage unprotected crops and other sensitive vegetation.
Morning commuters should be alert to possible black ice on bridges and overpasses... freeway ramps... and lesser traveled routes... especially in areas of fog. Remember to provide shelter for your pets as well.
