The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
northern Mono County in northern California...

* until 615 PM PDT

* at 351 PM PDT... Doppler radar indicated a thunderstorm producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Flash flooding is occurring or
expected to begin shortly. The Mono County Sheriffs Office
reported a debris blow along Buckeye creek and U.S. 395. Excessive
rainfall over the warned area will cause mud slides near steep
terrain. The mud slide can consist of rock... mud... vegetation and
other loose materials.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Bridgeport... Bridgeport Reservoir... Devils Gate Summit... Robinson
Creek campground... Bridgeport-Bryant Field Airport... bootleg
campground... Junction U.S 395 and CA 108 (sonora junction)...
Buckeye campground and Junction U.S 395 and CA 270 (bodie rd).

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. A few inches of fast flowing water is
powerful enough to sweep vehicles off the Road.

northern Mono County...

At 402 PM PDT... Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Heavy rainfall and the threat
for flash flooding will continue over the next few hours.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Coleville... Walker and Junction U.S 395 and CA 89.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 9 PM PDT this
evening...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of east central California and western Nevada...
including the following areas... in east central California...
greater Lake Tahoe area and Mono. In western Nevada... greater
Lake Tahoe area... greater Reno-Carson City-Minden area and
Mineral and southern Lyon counties.

* Until 9 PM PDT this evening

* thunderstorms will be slow moving and capable of producing very
heavy rain in a short period of time. These brief heavy rains
could lead to flash flooding and debris flows... especially in
areas of steep terrain and near burn scars from recent
wildfires.

* Roads could be impacted by flooding... debris flows and rock
slides making travel hazardous.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that flooding of small streams... creeks
and other drainage areas is possible within the watch area.
People in the watch area should monitor weather.Gov/Reno for
updates and be prepared for immediate action should heavy rains
and flooding occur or a Flash Flood Warning be issued.
