... Light snow possible in the higher elevations of the southern
Sierra on Thursday...

A cold low pressure system over the Gulf of Alaska will approach
California tonight. As the cold front moves through interior
central California Thursday... light precipitation is possible
over the mountains.

In the southern Sierra Nevada... rain and snow will begin in the
Yosemite park area by early Thursday. Occasional light showers
are possible near the cold front as it moves south across the
region Thursday. Snow levels will start out around 7000 feet and
quickly drop down to around 5000 feet over the southern Sierra by
Thursday afternoon behind the cold front. Showers are expected to
linger over the Sierra through the day Thursday. Snowfall
accumulations of 1 to 2 inches are possible above 7000 feet
by Thursday afternoon. A light dusting of snow is possible as low
as 5000 feet by Thursday afternoon in the Yosemite park area.
Southwest wind gusts up to 50 mph also are possible over the
higher terrain with this system. The snowfall and the gusty winds
will bring winter driving conditions to the Sierra which may
impact travel near the Tioga Pass on Thursday.

Thursday... be prepared for winter driving conditions across the
Tioga Pass. Monitor the latest National Weather Service forecasts
