The National Weather Service in Las Vegas has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory for snow... which is in effect for areas above
4000 feet in the San Bernardino County deserts from 8 PM this
evening to 10 am PST Wednesday. This replaces the Winter Storm
Watch.
* Timing... showers are possible today... with more steady
precipitation beginning this evening. The best chance for
significant snow will be tonight and Wednesday morning.
* Snow levels... 4000 to 5000 feet this afternoon falling to 3500
to 4000 feet tonight.
* Total snow accumulations... up to 6 inches with locally higher
amounts possible in the mountains.
* Winds... significant winds are not expected.
* Impacts... travel will be difficult on Interstate 15 between
Baker and the Nevada state line... portions of Highway 62 in the
morongo basin... and possibly Interstate 40 between Ludlow and
Essex. Travel may become impossible on untreated mountain roads.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow will
cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered
roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while driving.
