The National Weather Service in Phoenix has issued a

* Flood Advisory for...
north central Riverside County in Southern California...
northeastern San Bernardino County in Southern California...

* until 1000 PM PDT

* at 700 PM PDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Thunderstorms have redeveloped in Joshua Tree
National Park. Additional heavy rain is expected this evening.
This will cause minor flooding in the advisory area.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Eagle mtn and Cottonwood visitor.

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* southwest California... including the San Gorgonio Pass near
Banning... the apple and Lucerne valleys in the High Desert... the
Coachella Valley... Riverside County mountains... San Bernardino
County mountains... San Diego County deserts and San Diego County
mountains.

* Until 10 PM PDT this evening

* scattered thunderstorms will continue the flash flood threat
this evening.

* Recent burn scars will be particularly susceptible to flash
flooding and debris flows.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

The National Weather Service in San Diego has issued a blowing
dust advisory... which is in effect until midnight PDT tonight.

* Winds... 20 to 40 mph with higher gusts.

* Timing... between 730 PM and midnight

* location... the upper and lower deserts including the Coachella
Valley and the Anza Borrego desert. Affected cities include
Pioneertown... morongo vally... Desert Hot Springs... Palm
Springs... Indio... Mecca and Borrego Springs.

* Visibility... 1 to 3 miles. Locally below 1 mile.

* Impacts... blowing dust with reduced visibilites and hazardous
driving conditions.

* Outlook... conditions improving after midnight.

* Reports... at 7 PM twenty nine Palms reported winds of 29 mph
with gusts to 33 mph.
