The National Weather Service in Las Vegas has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
southwestern Mohave County in northwestern Arizona...
east central San Bernardino County in Southern California...

* until 400 PM PDT/400 PM MST/

* at 301 PM PDT /301 PM MST/... Doppler radar indicated a severe
thunderstorm capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60
mph. This storm was located near Lake Havasu City... and moving
northwest at 5 mph.

* Locations impacted include...
Lake Havasu City... Topock... Three Dunes campground... cattail Cove
State Park... Desert Hills and Black Meadow Landing campground.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 40 in Arizona between mile markers 0 and 14.
Interstate 40 in California between mile markers 153 and 155.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

This storm will produce high winds which can bring down trees and
power lines and cause blowing dust. Also... lightning can kill! Take
cover in a sturdy building and stay away from windows until the storm
passes. Report severe weather to the Las Vegas National Weather
Service via facebook or twitter.

If on Lake Havasu... head to shore if there is time... otherwise drop
anchor and take cover in the boat cabin. Stay away from metal and all

Statement as of 3:03 PM PDT on July 30, 2015

... The Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 445 PM PDT for
Riverside County...

At 248 PM PDT... Doppler radar indicated that the thunderstorm which
prompted the Flash Flood Warning had dissipated... though additional
storms remain possible this afternoon. Runoff from earlier rains is
expected to continue over the next couple hours. Therefore the Flash
Flood Warning remains in effect through 445 PM.

Some locations that may experience additional flooding include...
Idyllwild-Pine Cove... Hwy 243 between Banning and Idyllwild... Hwy 74
between Hemet and Mountain Center... Mountain Center... Valle Vista
and saboba Indian reservation.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams... highways and underpasses. Additionally...
country roads and farmlands along the banks of creeks... streams and
other low lying areas are subject to flooding.

* Flash Flood Warning for...
southwestern Mohave County in northwestern Arizona...
eastern San Bernardino County in Southern California...

* until 530 PM PDT/530 PM MST/

* at 225 PM PDT /225 PM MST/... Doppler radar and automated rain
gauges indicated thunderstorms producing along a line from near
Yucca towards the Parker Dam. These storms are drifting southwest
and will impact the lakr havasu area within the hour.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Lake Havasu City... Parker Dam... Three Dunes campground... Earp...
cattail Cove State Park... Desert Hills and Black Meadow Landing
campground.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Flash flooding is expected in washes... low water crossings and on
roads. To escape rising water... move to higher ground. Never try to
cross a flooded Road or enter a flood channel. Turn around... dont

... The Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 415 PM PDT for
southern San Bernardino County...

At 156 PM PDT... another round of heavy rainfall was beginning to move
into the Joshua Tree area. Some flooding was reported on eastbound
Highway 62 near downtown Joshua Tree. Additional rainfall will only
exacerbate ongoing flooding. Additional strong storms have formed
closer to Twentynine Palms and may expand the flood threat eastward.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Twentynine Palms... Yucca Valley... Twentynine Palms base... Landers...
Joshua Tree lake campground... Joshua Tree and Johnson Valley.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Flash flooding is expected in washes... low water crossings and on
roads. To escape rising water... move to higher ground. Never try to
cross a flooded Road or enter a flood channel. Turn around... dont

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 8 PM PDT this
evening...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of California and southwest California... including the
following areas... San Gorgonio Pass near Banning... apple and
Lucerne valleys... Coachella Valley... Riverside County
mountains... San Bernardino County mountains... San Bernardino and
Riverside County valleys- the inland Empire... San Diego County
deserts and San Diego County mountains.

* Until 8 PM PDT this evening

* plentiful monsoonal moisture and instability will create a
significant risk for heavy showers and thunderstorms and flash
flooding. Showers and storms will persist into the early
evening hours before gradually diminishing.

* Recent burn scars will be particularly susceptible to flash
flooding and debris flows. Be alert for issuance of flash
flood warnings from the National Weather Service.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
