   Saturday may cause travel delays.

*precipitation will start early Friday morning over the northern
   mountains... spread south Friday and continue into Saturday.
*Heaviest rain and snow expected late Friday into Saturday.
*Snow levels around 5500 feet Friday will lower to as low as
   3500 ft by Saturday. Moderate snow accumulations will be
   possible above 5500 ft.
*Afternoon thunderstorms possible in the valley and foothills
   Friday and Saturday.

Northerly winds will increase Thursday as a cold system approaches
northern California. Precipitation will start in far northern
California early Friday and spread south through the day.
Precipitation will linger across the Sierra and possible northern
San Joaquin Valley on Sunday as the system moves off to the
southeast. Moderate snow accumulations may impact weekend travel
over the mountains. Another system may bring more showers early
next week.
