... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from 4 PM this
afternoon to 7 am PST Saturday...
* impacts: travel problems expected. Snow removal will be
required to keep roads and driveways passable. Major roads may
become impassable due to rapid snow accumulation. Combined
wind and heavy snow could bring whiteout conditions. Downed
trees and power lines possible from accumulating snow.
* Confidence: high in mountain and foothill snow... medium in
accumulating snow down to the valley floor across the northern
* Timing: snow spreading into the area late this afternoon and
peaking in intensity late tonight. Lingering snow showers into
* Locations include: Chester... Quincy... Lassen National Park...
Alder Springs... Paradise.
* Snow accumulations: 1 to 6 inches of snow in the valleys and
in the mountains 6 to 15 inches.
* Winds: southwest 5 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow
are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an

... Record low temperatures set or tied at Redding, Red Bluff,
Sacramento executive, and Stockton airports...
Another cold morning across interior northern California brought
record or near record minimum temperatures across the valley.
Here are some record temperatures noted at some of our principal climate
stations this morning.
The low of 20 degrees at Redding Airport tied the record last set in 2009.
At Red Bluff Airport, this morning's low of 22 broke the old record
of 23 in 2009.
The low of 25 at Sacramento Executive Airport broke the 2009 record of 27.
Stockton airport's low of 23 tied their 2009 record.
