Riverside County/Eastern Deserts Severe Watches & Warnings NOAA Weather Radio

Special Statement
Statement as of 12:06 PM MDT on May 28, 2015

... Hot weather across the region this weekend...

After several unseasonably cool weekends... high pressure will build
over the region this weekend leading to an extended period of hot
weather. Afternoon highs above 100 degrees will be common with many
locations peaking near 105 degrees yielding the hottest weather of
the year so far.

While not terribly unusual for this time of year... heat is a serious
health threat and even seasoned year long residents may be affected.
Temperatures that will occur this weekend are historically known to
cause serious heat related injuries if the proper precautions are
not taken. Some things to consider before making plans this weekend:

1) try and limit outdoor activities to the early morning or evening
hours and drink plenty of water when working or playing outside.

2) check the backseat. Never leave children or pets inside a car for
any amount of time.

3) if you have not run your home air conditioner yet this
year... test it now before the heat sets in.

4) check on neighbors who may be reluctant to use air conditioning
early in the Summer season.

on the public service band. More detailed information is available
