Areal Flood Advisory
Statement as of 7:17 PM MDT on July 10, 2009
The National Weather Service in Tucson has issued an
* urban and small stream flood advisory for...
east central Pima County in south central Arizona... this
includes the cities of... Tucson... Marana... Oro Valley...
* until 1015 PM MST
* at 714 PM MST National Weather Service Doppler radar detected
thunderstorms producing heavy rainfall across much of the Tucson
metropolitan area. The heaviest rain extended from Midtown Tucson
through the west and northwest side including portions of Oro
Valley. Observed rainfall amounts include over one half of an inch
in less than 15 minutes with localized reports of street flooding
and minor flooding in washes.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause elevated levels in
washes and streams... and ponding of water in urban areas...
highways... streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage
areas and low lying spots.
