Statement as of 8:02 PM MDT on July 10, 2009 ... The urban and small stream flood advisory remains in effect until 1015 PM MST for east central Pima County... At 802 PM MST... skies were starting to clear on the eastern side of the greater Tucson area... with light showers still continuing to the southeast of Tucson and over the Oro Valley area. Reports of a third of an inch up to a half an inch have been received from around the Metro area to over a half of an inch for higher elevations. With the amount of precipitation received... washes will be flowing and there may be some residual street flooding. Remember... do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway... especially at night. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross safely. Precautionary/preparedness actions... Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause elevated levels on small creeks and streams... and ponding of water in urban areas... highways... streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage areas and low lying spots.
