The National Weather Service in Tucson has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
southeastern Pima County in southeastern Arizona...
north central Santa Cruz County in southeastern Arizona...

* until 1045 PM MST

* at 947 PM MST... trained weather spotters reported a severe
thunderstorm producing quarter size hail. This storm was located
near Arivaca Junction... and moving west at 30 mph.

* Locations impacted include...
Green Valley... Sahuarita... Kitt Peak... Tumacacori-Carmen... Tubac...
Rio Rico northeast... east Sahuarita... Tumacacori... Junction of
Highway 286 and Arivaca Road... Fresnal Canyon... Arivaca... Amado and
Arivaca Junction.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

This storm has a history of producing large hail. Seek shelter now
inside a sturdy structure and stay away from windows. Also... heavy
rains flood roads quickly so do not drive into areas where water
covers the Road.

In addition to large hail and damaging winds... very frequent cloud
to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Move indoors
immediately. Lightning is one of natures leading killers.
Remember... if you can hear thunder... you are close enough to be
struck by lightning.

The National Weather Service in Tucson has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
southwestern Cochise County in southeastern Arizona...
southeastern Pima County in southeastern Arizona...
Santa Cruz County in southeastern Arizona...

* until 1130 PM MST

* at 833 PM MST... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause Urban and Small Stream flooding
over central and southeastern portions of Pima County... mainly
over the tohono o'odham nation from near Kitt Peak to Green Valley
and south to Arivaca. This area of thunderstorms will continue
marching west and will result in swollen washes farther west over
western Pima County later this evening. In addition... heavy rain
will also continue to occur over extreme southeast portions of
Pima County near the Santa Cruz County line. Heavy rain will also
occur over a large part of Santa Cruz and southwestern Cochise
counties as well.

Radar rainfall estimates indicate widespread amounts ranging
from a quarter to a half inch... with amounts of over an inch
possible in some locations.

Vista... Nogales... Sells... Green Valley... Sahuarita...
Benson... Huachuca City... Kitt Peak... Rio Rico northeast... Rio Rico

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause ponding of water in
urban areas... highways... streets and underpasses as well as other
poor drainage areas and low lying spots. Expect heavy flow in
normally dry washes. Do not attempt to travel across flooded roads.
