Areal Flood Watch
Statement as of 3:29 PM MST on February 27, 2015

... Flood Watch in effect from late Saturday night through Monday
afternoon...

The National Weather Service in Phoenix has issued a

* Flood Watch for portions of east-central Arizona and south-central
Arizona. This watch covers the area of southern Gila County and the
Tonto National Forest foothills... including the communities of
Punkin Center... Roosevelt estates and Globe. The watch also covers
northern portions of Maricopa County... including the communities of
Wickenburg... New River... Cave Creek... north Phoenix... Scottsdale
and East Mesa.

* From early Sunday morning through Monday afternoon

* the 36-hour period of rain is expected to produce from 1.50 inches
of rain in and around Lower Desert communities across northern
Maricopa County... to upwards of 3.0 inches of rain in the higher
terrain and mountains north and east of Phoenix... including Cave
Creek... New River... Seven Springs and Sunflower. Heavy amounts of
rain are also expected to fall over Four Peaks and the Superstition
Mountains.

* The rainfall and runoff will lead to heightened flows of unknown
depth in New River... skunk creek and Deadmans Wash near anthem...
but also Cave Creek and Camp Creek... Sycamore Creek near
Sunflower... and tonto and Pinal creek that flow into the Tonto
Basin near Roosevelt Lake. Many other normally dry washes in the
watch area will quickly fill with runoff and may inundate low
water and unbridged Road crossings.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood
warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared
to take action should flooding develop.
