Areal Flood Advisory
Statement as of 6:53 PM MDT on July 29, 2015

The National Weather Service in Phoenix has issued a

* Flood Advisory for...
northeastern Maricopa County in south central Arizona...
west central Gila County in east central Arizona...

* until 945 PM MST

* at 651 PM MST... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause minor flooding in the advisory area.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Ballantine trailhead... Round Valley... Sugarloaf Mountain...
Sunflower... Four Peaks and Tonto Basin. Minor flooding is also
possible along highway87 south of Sunflower.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams... as well as farm and country roads. Do not
attempt to travel across flooded roads. Find alternate routes.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Move to higher ground.

A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated... or
ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
Do not attempt to travel across flooded roads. Find alternate routes.
It takes only a few inches of swiftly flowing water to carry vehicles
away.

815 PM MST Wed Jul 29 2015

... The small stream Flood Advisory remains in effect until 1000 PM
MST for eastern Maricopa... southern Gila and northeastern Pinal
counties...

At 811 PM MST... Doppler radar indicated that showers and
thunderstorms in the advisory area had weakened over the past 30
minutes... however locally moderate to heavy rain was still possible
and thus small stream flooding is still possible in the advisory
area. No reports of flooding have been received so far.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Superior... Top of the World... Boyce Thompson Arboretum and Top-of-
the-World. Minor flooding is also possible along Highway 60 between
Florence Junction and Miami.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.
