Areal Flood Advisory
Statement as of 1:59 PM MDT on September 01, 2015

The National Weather Service in Flagstaff has issued a

* small stream Flood Advisory for...
southeastern Coconino County in north central Arizona...

* until 500 PM MST

* at 155 PM MST... Doppler radar estimated that up to one and one
half inches of rain had fallen in the past hour near Sunset Crater
National Monument. Over one inch of rain is estimated to have
fallen over a broad area from Sunset Crater to near the Wupatki
National Monument visitors center. This will lead to small stream
flooding in the area.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument... Bonito campground at
Sunset Crater and Sunset Crater visitors center.

This includes the following streams and drainages... Deadman Wash...
Kanaa Wash... San Francisco wash.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams... as well as farm and country roads. Do not
attempt to travel across flooded roads. Find alternate routes.
