Areal Flood Advisory
Statement as of 2:49 PM MDT on September 01, 2015

... The small stream Flood Advisory remains in effect until 500 PM MST
for southeastern Coconino County...

At 245 PM MST... Doppler radar estimated that aside from a few light
showers... rain had largely ended over the advisory area. Between 1
and 1.5 inches of rainfall had accumulated over areas from Sunset
Crater National Monument to near the Wupatki National Monument
visitor center.

Some locations that are likely experiencing flooding include...
Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument... Bonito campground at
Sunset Crater and Sunset Crater visitors center.

This includes the following streams and drainages... Deadman Wash...
Kanaa Wash... San Francisco wash.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams... as well as farm and country roads. Do not
attempt to travel across flooded roads. Find alternate routes.
