Areal Flood Watch
Statement as of 11:10 AM MST on March 01, 2015

... Flood Watch now in effect from midnight tonight through 8 PM Monday
evening...

The Flood Watch is now in effect for

* portions of east-central Arizona and south-central Arizona...
including the following areas... in east-central Arizona... southern
Gila County/Tonto National Forest foothills. In south-central
Arizona... greater Phoenix area and northwest Maricopa County.

* From late tonight through Monday evening

* anticipate widespread significant rainfall to begin overnight
tonight and continue through much of the day Monday before tapering
off from west to east Monday evening. Rainfall amounts will
generally range from 0.75 inches to 1.25 inches over northern
Maricopa and southern Gila counties... with isolated areas closer to
2 inches possible in the mountains north and east of Metro Phoenix.

* Rainfall is expected to be sufficient to eventually produce
significant runoff in at least some of the normally dry washes
creating potentially dangerous conditions at unbridged crossings.
Other low lying flood prone areas will likely see some inundation.
Affected washes include but are not limited to... New River... skunk
creek... Cave Creek... Camp Creek... Sycamore Creek... tonto
creek... Pinal creek... Pinto creek... Hassayampa river... sols
wash... Martinez creek. Rural roads and portions of some highways
will likely be affected. Portions of some highways prone to Rock
Falls including highways 60... 77... and 87 may be affected.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood
warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared
to take action should flooding develop.
