... Cold and dry weather tonight... increasing chance of precipitation
early next week...


Cold weather tonight...

A dry cold front swept into the region Thursday evening. In its
wake a colder air-mass will lead to freezing and near freezing
temperatures across the lower deserts... including southeast
California and southwest and south central Arizona. Minimum
temperatures tonight will drop into the upper 20s to upper 30s on the
deserts. Forecast low temperatures for Saturday morning include 39 at
Phoenix... 34 at Imperial... 33 at Blythe... 32 at Gila Bend... and 31
in Coolidge. At this time... forecast low temperatures will remain
just short of freeze warning criteria.


Unsettled weather next week...

A significant change in the weather pattern will occur early next
week. Strong low pressure systems will move into the western
states... with considerable Pacific moisture directed into the region.
This will lead to unsettled weather... with a good chance of showers
... Possibly with brief heavy rain in south central Arizona. At this
time it appears the best chance for rain will occur late Monday into
Tuesday.

The weather pattern is expected to remain active over the western
United States through the latter part of next week. High
temperatures should also remain below normal.
