Areal Flood Advisory, Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 2:31 PM MDT on August 02, 2015

The National Weather Service in Flagstaff has issued a

* small stream Flood Advisory for...
east central Coconino County in north central Arizona...
northwestern Navajo County in northeastern Arizona...

* until 530 PM MST

* at 230 PM MST... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause small stream flooding in the
advisory area.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Coalmine Canyon chaper house and hopi reservation... Highway
264.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Move to higher ground.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to travel across
flooded roads. Find alternate routes. It takes only a few inches of
swiftly flowing water to carry vehicles away.

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of north central Arizona and west
central Arizona... including the following areas... Coconino
Plateau... Grand Canyon country... western Mogollon Rim.

* Until 5 PM MST this afternoon

will move slowly eastward across the area through late this
afternoon.

* Flooding of normally dry washes and streams is possible with the
heavier rainfall. Some roadways could become flooded.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that developing conditions may lead to
flash flooding within the watch area. People... especially those
located along area creeks... rivers or other flash flood prone
areas... should continue to monitor later forecasts and be
prepared to take immediate action should flash flood warnings be
issued.
