... Winter Weather Advisory now in effect from 9 PM this evening
to noon CDT Sunday...
The Winter Weather Advisory is now in effect from 9 PM this
evening to noon CDT Sunday.
* Timing... a cold rain will continue through the remainder of the
afternoon along and behind the cold front. Colder air will
filter in after sunset... allowing for snow to mix in with the
rain across portions of northwest and west Arkansas.
Precipitation will begin to taper off and become more patchy on
Sunday as the system pulls away from the region.
* Accumulations... accumulations in the advisory area will
generally be between 1 to 2 inches with higher amounts across
western Arkansas. Some higher elevations across west Arkansas could
see closer to 3 inches.
* Main impact... with air temperatures remaining near to just above
freezing during the time the snow will fall and taking into
account the warm ground temperatures... highest snowfall will
likely be in the higher elevations and on grassy areas.
* Other impacts..areas of snow or slush may accumulate on some
area roadways... especially less traveled and elevated ones.
This may lead to some slippery driving conditions.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of wintry
precipitation will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
snow covered roads and limited visibilities... and use caution
while driving.
