Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 2:30 PM CDT on May 22, 2015

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect from Sunday afternoon
through Monday morning...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of central Arkansas... north central Arkansas and
western Arkansas... including the following areas... in central
Arkansas... Pope and Yell. In north central Arkansas... Boone
and Newton. In western Arkansas... Johnson... Logan...
Montgomery... Polk and Scott.

* From Sunday afternoon through Monday morning

* widespread showers and thunderstorms will move into the state
from the west on Sunday afternoon. These storms will produce
rainfall amounts in excess of 2 to 3 inches... with locally
higher amounts... in western Arkansas from Sunday afternoon
through Monday morning.

* The soil across much of Arkansas remains saturated from the
heavy rainfall that occurred during the month of may. Many
rivers and streams are still at unseasonably high levels... with
any additional heavy rainfall only increasing the potential for
flash flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
