Statement as of 5:00 PM CST on December 25, 2009 ... Record daily maximum snowfall set at Memphis... A record snowfall of a trace was set at Memphis today. This ties the old record of a trace set in 1975... with a trace reported on 25 December in the years of 1980 and 1992 as well.

	Public Information Statement
Statement as of 12:34 PM CST on December 25, 2009 ... A white Christmas across the mid south... ... Well for a short while... Parts of the mid south actually had a dusting of snow this morning. A little light snow began falling early this morning over east Arkansas... the Missouri bootheel and extreme west Tennessee. The snow began around 5 am and with sunrise a light dusting was still visible which disappeared rapidly. Jackson Tennessee and points east had some snowfall through 9 am. Breezy and cold conditions reminded everyone of the time of year. In the recent past the early 1990's was the last time snowfall occurred on Christmas and then it was only a dusting.
