A strong low pressure system will bring active weather to the center of the nation on Saturday. The system will move off the Rockies and into the Plains, which will push a warm front into the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest, while it continues pulling a cold front southeastward across the Western states. Counter clockwise flow around this system will pull more moisture and energy into the Plains from the Gulf of Mexico, allowing for showers and thunderstorms to develop from Oklahoma through the Dakotas and into Minnesota. These areas are under a slight threat of severe weather development with strong winds, large hail, and heavy rainfall. Parts of western Nebraska and northwestern Kansas are under a moderate risk of severe thunderstorm development. This area has increased risk for tornado development on Saturday.

East of this activity, a weak trough slowly moves over the Eastern Valleys, allowing for a few more widespread showers and thunderstorms to pop up from the Southern Appalachians through the Mid-Atlantic states. Meanwhile in the West, moisture from the Pacific Ocean will allow for scattered showers with afternoon thunderstorms to persist for the Northern and Central Rockies. Severe storms are not likely in these areas. In the Southwest, gusty winds, warm temperatures, and dry conditions will maintain dangerous fire weather conditions on Saturday.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Mississippi River at Tunica Riverpark
* until further notice.
* At 07 PM Friday the stage was 45.4 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 41.0 feet.
* At 45.0 feet... casinos are open and unaffected. Boat launch parking
lot at charlies' Camp is covered. Campbell Road in is partly
flooded. Northeast end of Betty Lane is going under. Part of
Bourbon street is flooded. Spoonbill Lane is going under Water.
Valley Lane is flooded in Lakeview Camp. Road to houses south of
Ship Island is being covered.

The Flood Advisory continues for
the Mississippi River at Helena
* until Tuesday may 21.
* At 08 PM Friday the stage was 42.5 feet.
* Flood stage is 44.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river will rise to near 42.5 feet Saturday may 18.
* At 43.0 feet... Road to Landing east of downtown Helena begins to
flood. Places along bank of southwest side of DeSoto Lake are
flooding. Facility along the River North of friar's point is
flooding.

breaks the old record of 1.03 inches set back in 2003.
