Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 2:48 PM CDT on May 30, 2015

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 7 PM CDT this
evening...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of central Arkansas... north central Arkansas...
southeast Arkansas... southwest Arkansas and western Arkansas...
including the following areas... in central Arkansas...
Conway... Faulkner... Garland... Grant... Lonoke... Perry... Pope...
Pulaski... Saline... white and Yell. In north central
Arkansas... Cleburne... Independence... stone and Van Buren. In
southeast Arkansas... Cleveland and Jefferson. In southwest
Arkansas... Calhoun... Clark... Dallas... Hot Spring... Ouachita
and Pike. In western Arkansas... Logan... Montgomery... Polk and
Scott.

* Until 7 PM CDT this evening

* widespread additional rainfall of around half an inch is
expected across central Arkansas through this evening as a cold
front moves through the state. However... thunderstorms may yield
localized rainfall amounts in excess of 1 inch. Any rain that
falls will immediately become runoff and could lead to flash
flooding.

* In addition... area rivers and streams are already flooding or
near bank full. Any additional rainfall will not be able to
drain into waterways... increasing the threat for flash
flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
