Nowcast | as of 4:50 PM CDT on September 17, 2014

At 4:50 PM...National Weather Service Doppler radars indicated scattered showers and thunderstorms ongoing across portions of northwest Arkansas. Additional activity was detected over southwest Missouri...and poised to drop south into northwest Arkansas and the far northeast corner of Oklahoma. These showers and storms were moving southeast at around 20 mph. Through 6:15 PM...scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible for locations across far northwest Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas...mainly along and east of a Commerce Oklahoma to Ozark Arkansas line. While most of this activity will result in periods of light to moderate rainfall...the stronger storms that occur will be capable of producing locally heavy rainfall...small hail and gusty winds. Average hourly rainfall of one tenth to one quarter inch will be common...with amounts in excess of one inch per hour possible with the heavier downpours. Some localized flooding issues may arise with the heavy rainfall.
