The Flood Warning continues for
the Cache River near Patterson.
* Until further notice... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 9:00 am Tuesday the stage was 9.6 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 8.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river will continue to fall to a stage of 9.5 feet
by morning.
* Impact at 8.0 feet... low swampy Timberland along the river begins to
flood. Flood gates should be closed and equipment moved out of the low
grounds along the river and tributaries.

7 PM CDT Wednesday...

The National Weather Service in Little Rock has issued an
excessive heat warning... which is in effect from 7 PM this
evening to 7 PM CDT Wednesday. A heat advisory remains in effect
until 7 PM CDT this evening.

* Areas affected: a large part of Arkansas.

* Heat index: afternoon and early evening heat index values are
expected to reach 105 to 110 degrees... with locations in the
eastern third of the state exceeding 110 degrees.

* Impacts: when it is this hot... and especially for a prolonged
time... heat illnesses become more of a concern.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A heat advisory means that a combination of hot temperatures and
high humidity will combine to create a situation in which heat
illnesses are possible. Drink plenty of fluids... go to an air-
conditioned room... stay out of the sun... and check up on
relatives and neighbors.

An excessive heat warning means that a prolonged period of
dangerously hot temperatures will occur. The combination of hot
