High Wind Advisory
Statement as of 3:22 AM CDT on March 12, 2014
... Lake Wind Advisory now in effect until 7 PM CDT this evening...
* event... a strong cold front will bring northwest winds of 15
to 25 mph... with a few gusts to 35 mph.
* Timing... this cold front should move across the entire four
state region by mid morning. Strong northwesterly winds will
increase very quickly after the front passes. Wind speeds should
begin to diminish by late afternoon or early evening.
* Impact... hazardous boating conditions will result due to rough
chop on area lakes and any other open waters.
A lake Wind Advisory indicates that winds will cause rough chop
on area lakes. Small boats will be especially prone to capsizing.
