Ice Storm Warning
Statement as of 3:30 PM CST on December 06, 2013
... Ice Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 PM CST this
* timing... through 6 PM CST this evening.
* Impacts... total ice accumulations of a quarter to a half an inch
can be expected. Sleet may mix in at times. Only trace amounts
of sleet accumulations are expected.
* Power outages are likely. Strong northerly winds may knock
down trees as well. Bridges and overpasses will ice first
followed by roads.
Be aware of the dangers of Carbon monoxide... a colorless and
odorless gas that can be deadly. Carbon monoxide poisoning may
result from the use of portable fuel burning heaters... cooking
grills... or gas generators in areas that are not well ventilated.
An Ice Storm Warning means severe winter weather conditions are
expected or occurring. Significant amounts of ice accumulations
will make travel dangerous or impossible. Travel is strongly
discouraged. Commerce will likely be severely impacted. If you
must travel... keep an extra flashlight... food... and water in your
vehicle in case of an emergency. Ice accumulations and winds will
likely lead to snapped power lines and falling tree branches that
add to the danger.
