Statement as of 4:55 AM AKST on November 14, 2009 ... Winter Weather Advisory now in effect until noon akst today... The Winter Weather Advisory for the Copper River basin is now in effect until noon akst today. A strong low pressure system in the eastern Gulf of Alaska is spreading snow across the Copper River basin. Storm total snow accumulations of 4 to 12 inches are expected with this system... with the highest amounts falling east of the Richardson Highway. Conditions are expected to improve toward noon as the snow begins to taper off from the west. Precautionary/preparedness actions... Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while driving.
