Tonight

A chance of snow in the evening...then snow showers after midnight. Snow accumulation up to 2 inches. Lows in the mid teens to lower 30s. South wind 10 to 15 mph with gusts to 30 mph along the inlet shifting to the east after midnight. Near Kachemak Bay...southwest wind 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 40 mph in the evening becoming northwest 15 mph after midnight.

Friday

Numerous snow showers in the morning...then isolated snow showers in the afternoon. Up to 1 inch additional snow accumulation. Highs in the mid 20s to mid 30s. North wind 10 to 20 mph.

Statement as of 12:30 PM AKST on November 12, 2009 ... Record daily snowfall tied at Valdez... The daily snowfall total at the Valdez Weather Service office recorded 11 inches on Veterans Day... this ties the previous record set back in 1973. Also to note... the total 2 day snowfall from Wednesday to Thursday was 15.9 inches which is the highest 2 day total on record... in 1974 the November 11 and 12 amount was 15.7 inches.
