Special Statement
Statement as of 5:11 AM AKST on March 01, 2015

... Rain and freezing rain to impact southwest Alaska early this
week...

A low pressure system will move from the North Pacific today to
near Kuskokwim Bay Tuesday. Warm air and moisture will push north
across southwest Alaska with this system.

For Bristol Bay communities such as Dillingham and King Salmon...
temperatures will rise above freezing as rain begins Monday
morning and remain that way through event. While some sub-
freezing surfaces may become especially slippery early Monday... little
to no ice or snow accumulation is expected through the event.

For the Kuskokwim valley and Kuskokwim Delta regions... there will
be a greater chance of freezing rain as temperatures will remain
near or below freezing during this event. Light ice accumulations are
possible over parts of the Kuskokwim Delta and Kuskokwim valley.
Precipitation will change to snow Tuesday from west to east
before ending... with minor snow accumulations possible.

The main impacts from this storm are likely to be hazardous traveling
conditions... especially on smooth exposed surfaces where traction
will become limited.

The National Weather Service Anchorage forecast office will
continue to monitor this developing weather situation. Please
visit www.Weather.Gov/Anchorage for the latest forecast.
