The Wind Advisory will expire at 6 PM akst this evening. A high wind watch remains in effect from Friday evening through Saturday morning. A strong low pressure center will track north into the Gulf of Alaska Friday and send a strong weather front through the Panhandle Fri night and early Saturday. Gusts as high as 60 mph are likely beginning Friday evening and could occur as late as noon Saturday. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A watch means conditions are favorable for the development of high winds in and close to the watch area. This statement will be updated by 10 PM akst Thursday or sooner if conditions warrant.
