Areal Flood Warning
Statement as of 11:57 AM AKDT on May 22, 2015

The National Weather Service in Fairbanks has extended the

* Flood Warning for...
snow melt...
The Porcupine river near Fort Yukon...

* until 1115 am akdt Sunday

* at 0800 am akdt... water levels have risen about 3 inches since
0800 PM akdt Thursday evening and are expected to continue a slow
rise through Sunday. The Porcupine river at Fort Yukon is overbank
in the vicinity of sucker River Road Landing. Low lying areas are
becoming inundated with water from The Porcupine river overflow.

* The river has not crested in the area and flow continues to slowly
increase as water from other tributaries makes its way into the
river. This is increasing the probability that The Porcupine river
could reach levels that will impact houses and other buildings in
Fort Yukon.

* River gauges upstream indicate that The Porcupine river level is
starting to fall after almost 6 days of high water. This indicates
that it will still be several days before water levels begin to
fall significantly in Fort Yukon.
