Statement as of 3:44 PM AKST on November 12, 2009 ... Winter Storm Warning in effect until 6 am akst Friday north of Fairbanks... The National Weather Service in Fairbanks has issued a Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow... which is in effect until 6 am akst Friday. Snow continuing north of Fairbanks. Accumulations 8 to 20 inches. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Storm Warning means significant winter weather hazards are expected. This will make travel and outdoor activity very hazardous.

Statement as of 3:33 am AKST on November 12, 2009 ... Two records broken at wein Memorial Airport... on November 11, 2009 Kotzebue broke two records. Kotzebue received .62 inches of precipitation the previous record was .35 inches set in 1990. The second record was for snowfall. Kotzebue received 8.2 inches of snowfall. The previous record was 3.5 inches set in 1990.
