... Winter storm brought very windy and snowy conditions to southcentral Alaska today...
A strong weather front moving through the Susitna Valley and the Kenai Peninsula this afternoon brought very windy conditions to the Anchorage bowl. Warning level wind gusts of 82 mph occurred on the hillside at Glen Alps and 81 mph along Turnagain Arm at McHugh Creek. Winds have since diminished.
The Susitna Valley received a considerable amount of snow with this system. Reported snow accumulations this afternoon ranged from 6 inches near Amber Lake to 14 inches at Chulitna in the northern Susitna Valley. Snow will continue to taper off over the Susitna Valley through this evening as the weather front moves toward the Copper River basin.
