Wind Advisory in effect from 3 PM this afternoon to 9 PM akst the evening... locally very windy through early afternoon. Southeast wind 25 to 35 mph with gusts up around 60 mph in exposed areas. Rain continuing through the afternoon...mixing with snow at times. Little or no snow accumulation. Isolated thunderstorms with cloud to ground lightning and ice pellets are possible. Additional rainfall amounts up to one quarter inch through 6 PM.

Rain...heavy at times. Mixing with snow at times in the morning...then rain and snow showers in the afternoon. Isolated thunderstorms with ice pellets. Very windy. No snow accumulation. Highs around 40. Southeast wind 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 65 mph. Gusts diminishing to 45 mph in the late afternoon.
Rain and snow showers in the evening...then snow showers late. Breezy. Snow accumulation 1 to 2 inches. Lows around 30. South wind 15 to 25 mph. Chance of precipitation 90 percent.

* until 945 PM akst Saturday
* at 952 am akst... heavy rain with mudslides reported
* mudslides reported by Juneau Police Department as well as heavy rainfall with an already saturated ground creates mudslide conditions. Mudslides can occur well after the rain has become light.
A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or has been reported. Stream rises will be slow and flash flooding is not expected. However... all interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Stay away from steep Barren hillsides due to the mudslide danger.
All residents on or near mountain slopes should be prepared for possible mudslides.
Mudslides remain possible in areas of steep terrain.

A High Wind Warning remains in effect until 3 PM akst this afternoon. A Wind Advisory remains in effect from 3 PM this afternoon to 9 PM akst this evening.
A very powerful low pressure center is tracking eastward across the northern Gulf and will send a strong weather front through the Panhandle today. Southeast winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 60 mph are expected over the forecast area. Winds will briefly subside in the late morning and then pick up again this afternoon as another frontal band passes through the Panhandle. Winds have gusted to 62 mph hour at the Juneau Airport and in ketchican this morning.

A Wind Advisory means that sustained wind speed or frequent gusts will occur between 40 and 60 mph.
