... Flood Advisory continues in effect through 1pm akst Tuesday for
the Tanana river at Salcha...

The National Weather Service in Fairbanks has extended the

* Flood Advisory for ice jam flooding in Salcha including the
piledriver Slough area

* until 100pm akst Tuesday

* an ice jam continues to hold on the Tanana river just downstream
of piledriver Slough. On Saturday night citizens of Salcha and North
Star borough emergency management personnel reported that water was
backing up into The Slough and coming up some on to the banks of The
Slough. As of Sunday evening... citizen reports indicated that water
levels in The Slough had come down a little. When such ice jams form
on the middle Tanana river during the fall season... water levels can
fluctuate from levels above flood stage to stages below flood stage.
It can take several days for the ice jam to let loose. For this
reason the Flood Advisory is extended until 1pm Tuesday.

* Minor flooding is expected to occur through Tuesday and
perhaps longer in Salcha... especially in low lying areas near
piledriver Slough. Local Road flooding is not expected at this time.
