A coastal Flood Warning remains in effect from 6 am Wednesday to
6 PM akst Thursday.
Minor coastal flooding is expected to develop Wednesday and
continue through Thursday. Tides of 2 to 4 feet above normal are
expected. Coastal flooding is expected in low lying areas.
Significant erosion is expected on northwest facing coastlines
from early Wednesday through Thursday when the strong northwest
winds push the waves onshore. This could affect Gambell...
Savoonga... Wales and Little Diomede.
The high water and high seas could push sea ice on shore. Wave
driven sea ice can cause great damage to structures. Anything
that can be moved away from the coast should be moved now. Heavy
snow and blizzard conditions will accompany this storm tonight
through Wednesday night so preparations should be made now.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A coastal Flood Warning means that rising sea water that causes
flooding is expected. Coastal residents in the warned area should
be alert for rising water... and take actions to protect life and
property.
