Statement as of 6:57 AM AKST on November 10, 2009 ... Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from this evening through late Wednesday night... A storm in the central Bering Sea is forecast to move to the Bering Strait Tuesday night and strengthen rapidly. Heavy snow along with strong winds and local blizzard conditions are expected to start Tuesday night and continue through late Wednesday night. Snow fall of 4 t0 8 inches possible this evening through late Wednesday night. Strong west winds are expected to increase tonight and Wednesday to 35 mph with blowing snow creating local possible blizzard conditions. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Storm Watch means that there is a potential for hazardous winter weather that may impact travel or outdoor activity.
