... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 PM akdt
Saturday...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow and near blizzard
conditions remains in effect until 6 PM akdt Saturday.

* Location... west of the Richardson Highway

* snow... 5 to 11 inches through Saturday... for a storm total of
8 to 16 inches west of the Richardson Highway. Lesser amounts
of 2 to 6 inches... are expected from the Richardson Highway
east.

* Visibility... snow and blowing snow will reduce visibility to
one half mile at times.

* Timing... snow west of the Tok cutoff will spread east
Saturday. Heavy snow will continue through Saturday west of
the Richardson Highway.

* Impacts... visibility will be reduced. Snow will accumulate
into drifts. Travel and outdoor activities will be difficult.

A Winter Storm Warning means one or more significant winter
weather hazards are occurring or expected.

... Record temperatures for Denali National Park Headquarters...

Several weather records have been broken or tied at Denali National
Park Headquarters during the past few days.

On may 14th the high temperature was 35... this was the lowest high
temperature ever reported for the date... the old record was 36 set
in 1937.

On may 14th a record low of 14 above was set... the old record for
the date was 17 in 1957.

On may 15th the high temperature was 38... this tied the lowest
high temperature for the date set in 1938.

On may 15th a record low of 14 above was set... the old record for
the date was 20 in 1965.
