Areal Flood Advisory
Statement as of 10:21 AM AKDT on August 20, 2014

...The Flood Advisory remains in effect until 1015 am akdt Thursday for the Kenai River from Skilak Lake to Kenai Keys...

Water levels along the Kenai River are falling but remain elevated in areas. The trend of Falling Water levels is expected to continue the next 24 to 36 hours albeit slowly.

As of 1000 am akdt Wednesday...the following were observed at area river gauges:

The Kenai River below Skilak Lake was observed at 13.4 ft. Flood stage is 13.0 ft.

The Kenai River at Kenai Keys was observed at 11.2 ft. Flood stage is 11.0 ft.

Impacts: some residual minor flooding in Kenai Keys with water over the Road and around houses. The subdivision is still accessible.

A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated or ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.

...Record high temperature set for Cold Bay AK...

On Tuesday 19 Aug Cold Bay Airport recorded a high temperature of 66 degrees fahrenheit. This broke the previous record of 65 degrees fahrenheit last set in 2004.
