... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 4 PM akst
A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow remains in effect until 4
PM akst Thursday.
* Timing... snowfall rates will increase again early this afternoon
and continue through thurs afternoon.
* Snowfall... reported accumulations have ranged from 6 to 18
inches with highly variable amounts over the area due to wind.
Additional 13 to 24 inches is expected through Thursday
afternoon with highest amounts over northern areas. Snowfall
rate could be an inch per hour with the visibility down to one
* Main impact... motor vehicle travel is likely to become
hazardous. Snow removal operations will intensify.
Boat and aircraft owners area advised to remove heavy wet snow.
Heavy wet snow will be difficult to manage due to high water
A warning means that a winter storm is already occurring or
imminent. This storm could pose a threat to life and property.
This statement will be updated by 8 PM akst Wednesday or sooner
if conditions warrant.
