Weather Underground Forecast for Friday, May 25, 2012.

Showers and thunderstorms will continue across the northwestern Caribbean Sea on Friday as an elongated area of low pressure extends over the region. Locally heavy rainfall and flooding remains possible over the Cayman Islands, parts of Cuba, southern Florida, and the Bahamas. More modest precipitation is anticipated in Central America. This system has a low chance, near zero percent of becoming a tropical cyclone by Friday.

To the east, increasing moisture will fuel more showers and thunderstorms across the Windward Islands. This activity will become enhanced through the weekend by an approaching tropical wave.

For South America, typical rain and thunderstorms are anticipated in the northern countries of the continent. To the south, a weak disturbance will push through the southeastern corner of Brazil, triggering light to moderate rain showers and chances of thunderstorms in Sao Paulo, Santa Catarina, and Rio de Janeiro. Further south, a strong Pacific storm will reach central and southern Chile with increased clouds and showers on Friday. Rainfall will increase through the weekend and may be accompanied by thunderstorms as waves from the system move inland and effect areas near Santiago through the southern tip of Chile.
