Weather Underground Forecast for Thursday, May 24, 2012.

The Caribbean Sea will continue to see enhanced precipitation on Thursday as a trough associated with now dead tropical storm Alberto sits over the region. Cuba and the Bahamas will see the brunt of precipitation from this trough, but it will influence the weather around it, leading to slight enhancement of the region’s typical rain normal for this time of year.

The trough will also bring wet weather to Central America from southern Mexico through Costa Rica.

The Eastern Caribbean Sea will also see some heavier than normal precipitation centered over the Lesser Antilles.

Mexico will see another heavy rain threat from a tropical storm starting late on Thursday as what could become hurricane Bud pushes into the coast north of Acapulco. This storm is unlikely to bring damaging winds to the nation, but heavy rain will likely cause flooding that could bring loss of life over the weekend.

In South America, typically rainy weather will spread throughout the northern portion of the continent, while a band of rain pushes across the southern portion of Brazil and into Argentina and Paraguay.

Further south, dry weather is expected on the east side of the Andes, but a Pacific storm will bring wet weather to the south Chilean coast later in the day.
