Unsettled weather conditions will continue across central, mainland Europe on Wednesday as a storm system continues to linger over the region. The system will begin the day spanning from eastern France and southern Germany eastward through Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria, before spreading northward into the Netherlands and further east into Ukraine. Significant moisture will accompany this system and will allow for widely scattered showers and areas of moderate to heavy rain with clusters of thunderstorms to form across these countries. Several inches of rain are likely in these areas. Strong, damaging thunderstorms may become possible in areas of Italy, Austria, and Hungary. During the latter half of the day, an associated trough will spread precipitation back into Belgium and the Netherlands, while a cold front brings showers to northern Poland, Belarus, and western Russia, near Moscow.

Behind this activity, generally pleasant weather is anticipated in much of the British Isles, the Iberian Peninsula, and Scandinavia as high pressure prevails and blocks low pressure in the north Atlantic Ocean. A few weak frontal disturbances will extend across the United Kingdom with very small to slight chances of patchy showers and isolated thunderstorms. Expect milder daytime highs across these areas as this system noses northward.
